Please reconsider! The trees really improve the square. It is surely possible to put a low railing around them, or remove the cobbles from close to the trunk and just have earth.

Surely there must be a more creative solution to this than to cut down the trees? Come on!

Are they dangerous? Would pruning solve the problem? Indeed what is the problem with them apart from them producing much needed oxygen and giving pleasure to us all

Those trees make the Square - give it personality - without them it would look so sterile and 'twee'! OK, they take a little tlc - but what price aesthetic pleasure!

Please find some way to save the trees. Don't allow the square to louder it's character and become just like any other town centre.

Trees are vital to improve air quality and aid drainage.
Removing trees is not exactly in line with the interests of the National Park.
They are no more of a trip hazard than the kerb to the pavement , café tables or the advertising boards outside many shops.
Please leave them alone.

Please don't cut down 3 beautiful old trees. Put a railing around the trip hazard areas instead!
