Please leave the trees and deal with pavements in the whole town they are lethal ! There will be more claims as a result of these uneven and loose surfaces than the bricks around a few trees !

Please leave the trees in the square, cutting them down to replace them with smaller trees will result in the very same action in a few years time... The mature trees have a place in the square...

No consultation. No lateral thinking as to how to resolve the problem without cutting down beautiful mature trees. It would be an act of vandalism.

Nothing to do with Health and Safety, its all to do with the flat owners complaining would be my guess.. Outsiders move into the square without reviewing what Petersfield town square is all truly about.. it a market town with history if you do like it sell out and move out

What utter nonsense - there are enough studies to show the immense value trees and green spaces add to urban areas. It improves well-being, significantly improves air quality, soaks up rainwater and combats heat gain in cities & towns. This is stated fact. There are initiatives promoting tree planting. But here, to save themselves the bother of actually managing the trees they have, they want to cut them down and actually make the square a barren, lifeless, concrete slab. Shame on the Council - short-sighted, wrong-headed and sheer bloody lazy.

Cutting those trees is just plain stupid. That there was no consultation and that the trees are to be cut at such short notice makes me very suspicious.
