Urbane idiocy and health and safety are out to ruin this country. We must unite to save the beauty of these trees and their health giving properties. It would take many years for any saplings to reach the sizes of the current trees.

We must leave these trees for current and future generations to enjoy. They are part of the town's heritage.

What an utter travesty it would be to destroy the trees around the square in Petersfield. They aren't old or ill, so why?

It would be criminal to remove these healthy trees . They brighten and enhance the Square. Keep the Trees!

Please find a different way to solve the problem of lifting pavements. Don't cut down the trees - they add too much to the Square to lose.

Once again such lack of vision or imagination from our local council, obviously someone is to pocket some profit from this act ..... Remember you are there to serve the people and what they want NOT what you see fit and right!

I am in support of this and also in support of an open public consultation on the proposal to remove the trees.

Outrageous! We all love the tree and so do the birds. Spend council money on dealing with real issues such as the non parking space outside the post office which causes so many holdups, or allowing free Sunday parking.... these council members neex to remember who they represent - us the ones who pay our council tax.

Thank goodness the French are not so short sighted as to cut trees down in their beautiful squares, but it seems our local council are.

Please refer to a well informed article on urban trees in the Gardening section of the Daily Telegraph 28 Nov 2015. Why not plant more trees first?

It would be an act of vandalism to remove these trees. There are other options for making them safe.

I feel the protection and respect for these trees can be preserved while keeping the public safety in mind.
