the mullaperiyar dam situated in kerala.it is a gravity dam made with lime stone and surkhi which means the mixture of sugar and calcium oxide.it constructed in the 19th century in Periyar River.it is located 881 above mean the sea level on the cardemom hills in idukki district in KERALA.the british government in the 19th century decided to give water to the madrass people for their needs.the dam is controlled and operated on a period lease by tamil nadu, eventhough the dam and the river fully ownerd by and located in kerala.the british government has outlived its expected life span of 50 year,but now the dam is 116years old as of 2011.from july onwords 16 earthguicks are happend in near the dam..like 2.9,3.5,1.7 etc.in the hecter scale..there is a chance for 6.5 also.if it will happen more than 5million people will be wiped out and all the 5 districts will be under the water completely.plz do something..save the people in kerala...
