This is in effect splitting the parish of Drumoak and Durris in half and is very unfair for the communities.

This bridge is important as a connection between the communities of Dorris and Drumoak. It is also part of many cycling routes which the council claim to be encouraging.

1) I use this bridge regularly as a cyclist. It constitutes a critical link in maintaining viable cycle routes off the main roads.
2) During the major floods, a number of bridges were closed, resulting in stranded communities and communication difficulties. We need to maintain as much redundancy as possible on Dee river crossings as insurance against future incidents of this type!
3) Aberdeenshire Council has a poor track record of doing the right thing for rural communities. Make a start, and do the right things for once. Keep Park Bridge open to light traffic.

We use the bridge on a near weekly basis mainly on cycle routes from Banchory to Durris and Drumoak . It would be a major loss to our cycle groups if this bridge were to close .

Important heritage to be preserved which is an invaluable crossing for locals , tourists etc. As it has a Grade A preservation order on it already this has to be respected to ensure future generations can enjoy such classic Victorian architecture over 100 years of history can’t be destroyed .
