The bridge is a vital link between the communities of Durris and Drumoak

Park bridge is the lifeline between Durris and Drumoak it connects both communities it is vital to save this bridge - communities are struggling nowadays to maintain relations its vital that we continue to retain these connections

The loss of Park Bridge has had, and will continue to have, a massively detrimental effect on the two communities of Drumoak and Durris. The closure is having a very negative impact on the close links between Drumoak and Durris. As many others have commented, the sheer volume of shared community groups and resources are being greatly affected by the lengthy alternative routes having to be used. The bridge closure impacts upon every generation in both communities and is increasing the isolation of rural communities.

I live in Durris and work in Drum, the detour via Crathes adds 200miles a month to what should be a very short journey.

Live in Drumoak and it’s been a nightmare having to detour when coming home from south deeside road. Bridge has been resurfaced and bollards at either side to stop heavy vehicles crossing now after all that work it’s closed. For the community of Drumoak it needs to be repaired and reopened.

I have to take the detour to take my kids to school, to visit their friends, to go to activities in Drumoak. It's seriously effected our family and we feel completely cut off from a community we once felt integrated with. We feel seriously let down by our council and its councillors for letting this happen. They have known for a very long time that this bridge would not last forever, yet no contingency has ever been made?? The usual head in the sand attitude I've come to expect for our local services.

This icon of the present and importantly, the past - must be saved, one cannot allow the link between the two communities to be broken, let alone the round trip this would mean, and the loss of the community spirits maintained by its use. Please look at this with good heart and common sense , thank you

Living in Drum, we really miss the access that Park Bridge gives to the community.

Hopefully something can be done to resolve the situation as Drumoak and Durris have become one community over the years with many groups as well as the Women’s Institute being made up with members from both sides of the river. There is the Drumoak Durris indoor bowling club, the Scout group, the young farmers, the Drumoak Durris community group, the outdoor bowling club, the accordion club, Drumoak Durris church and the CDDCC. All these community groups use this bridge to access the local halls that these groups meet up in. As we no longer have the 204 bus service our local bus would be on the north Deeside road at Drumoak which we would no longer be able to access. Our local post office and shop are over the river at Drumoak too. It is also a link that the local community nurses and doctors use too to access both communities. Some families have elderly parents who live over the river and use the bridge to visit them. With the Park bridge closed the residents of both communities have a big detour via Crathes or Peterculter to cross the river. It’s of great importance to both our communities that this bridge should remain open.

Absolute disgrace that the bridge is closed for so long. As for a permanent closure....I’m speechless.
