Parents abuse this privilege. Instead of it being a special occasion they come every day. School is 6 hours a day, do you really need to interfere with your child having time with their peers during those few hours?

You do not have a child at this school.

Is there a compromise? I’m not a parent at this school, but have children at another PBC school. That school allows parents to bring birthday treats and eats on their child’s birthday. If that isn’t enough, maybe once a month? Since every visitor has to be cleared and checked in - maybe it’s a practice that is getting to be too much of a burden on school resources. (Then it is a security issue.) Perhaps the school is getting ready for a month of FSA testing, too? Good luck!

I fully support to keep the lunch. My son is learning to eat different types of food and this will affect him. I recently bought a house in order for son to attend the school next year.

My kids and I love it when either I or my husband have lunch with them at school! I’m saddened and disappointed that they are taking this privilege away. I really don’t understand how this is a security concern.

Thank you for leaving the comments public. It is very obvious to me, and probably to all, that your motives go far deeper than just a school policy change, that they are deeply rooted in unresolved family issues. Since I am no stranger to those, I will not fault you for it. It is my sincerest wish that you find the peace you seek in life. I will pray for you.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on my petition. I am glad you have made these comments so that I can purposely leave it public, because this is just the exact the thing I wanted to expose so that all the parents can see the type of people who are behind this type of negativity. Not so anonymous anymore.

Just want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your amazing support in keeping this alive. We are extremely confident that our voices will be heard, and that the school will reconsider reinstating the lunches for parents due to all the great positive impact it has on our kids. Let's keep the signatures coming!

Lunch time is important, especially with kids that may need some support throughout the day. All PBCS should make visiting during breakfast and lunch available.

Your whole speech leads me to believe that the policy change had everything to do with YOU and YOUR agenda and not so much with the parents who have lunch with their kids everyday. You sound like a bitter ex who went out of her way to get a whole school to change its lunch policy to aide you in practicing your parental alienation. Bringing up how some parents should get better lawyers to be able to see their child for more time is extremely insensitive, but also possibly something YOU are making the other parent go through. Maybe YOU and only YOU have a problem with the parents having lunch with their kids. The Fact that you took the time to call other schools to check their policy shows that you have an interest in this policy change. If the main concern is the parent walking the kids back to class then enforce a rule that parents are not allowed to do so. You are concerned about isolating the child from friends but not concerned about isolating the child from the other parent? I am sure my child prefers the home cooked meal comes with a loving parent rather than... a box.

Sorry folks, I agree with the school on this one. First of all, want your child to have a home cooked meal? LUNCH BOX. Second, this is NOT family time, it is SCHOOL TIME. If your only family time is 30 minutes during school, you need a better lawyer. Third, this school is the last one anywhere I called that still allowed it! Fourth, I appreciate the tightening up of the campus. I have seen parents try to follow teachers back to the classroom or talk to them when they are busy. Fifth, don't equate lunch with a real volunteer opportunity. All you do is isolate your child from their friends, you are of no benefit to anyone else. Sixth, the person who said something about killing people in the car line needs to be identified. Seems like their thoughts are pretty dark. Seventh, while it was nice to show up once and a while to eat with my child, I saw the same parents each time I was there, leading me to believe they had something to do with this policy change. Lastly, stop being a helicopter over your kid and let them grow up!

Encouraging family style or family-oriented lunches in a school setting, reduces many actions of bullying, encourages self-worth in the child, which creates a positive atmosphere and creates social emotional stability in the school environment. Children can spend quality time with their parents during lunch time, as to much of us parents work very long hours and sometimes aren’t able to sit down and have a meal with our children. This opportunity creates a sense of security to children, demonstrating that they are of importance to their parent. It’s unfortunate, that based on the experience of one family, that this will no longer be allowed in your school. Children should not pay the price of spending quality time with their parents because of one incident that can and may have been prevented. As adults, whether parents or school directors, we should always have the best interest of the child at heart. Please, as a parent and as a grandparent, I ask that we reconsider this situation, and reinstate the ability to have lunch with our children and grandchildren.

My kids always ask me to have lunch with them because it makes their day better. I can’t always do that bc of work obligations but in some days it’s the only opportunity I would have other than seeing them at 8pm. Please don’t take this away.
