Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority: Make DG Group's wetland destruction application public

I frequently make sites of ecological significance my destination when travelling. If this project were to go ahead and the wetlands and farm lands impacted, I will be much less likely to visit Georgina. For the sake of your community and the Lake Simcoe watershed please do not approve this project and instead work to better improve the local ecology.

Wetlands must be saved for our health, the planets health and future generations

Members of the LSRCA should be ashamed of themselves if they are prepared even to consider allowing this development.

Our wetlands are precious to protect our biodiversity & should not be sacrificed.

Over developement will kill Lake Simcoe. Wetlands and green spaces are essential for a healthy Lake and community. Georgina needs this more than more homes.

Oh dear, we can't let money, greed and corruption rule Canada!! Goodness, we have to let justice prevail and protect what little green space we have left.

Transparency is essential in any negotiation of the development of public lands. To refuse to disclose facts erodes trust. The LRCA should know this.

I think that people should just leave our forests and wetlands alone. Enough with running wildlife out of their homes.

We can't keep destroying segments of our wilderness areas....death by a thousand cuts, including our own demise, eventually.

I wonder what significance the following observation may have re the legality of the DG Group proposal: Section 2.1.8 of the Provincial Policy Statement (PPS) states that “Development and site alteration shall not be permitted on adjacent lands to the natural heritage features and areas identified in policies 2.1.4, 2.1.5, and 2.1.6 unless the ecological function of the adjacent lands has been evaluated and it has been demonstrated that there will be no negative impacts on the natural features or their ecological functions.” (emphasis added) These natural heritage features and areas are identified: a) in Section 2.1.4 as “significant wetlands in Ecoregions 5E, 6E and 7E” (Figure 1 of PPS seems to indicate that the North Gwillimbury Forest is contained within these ecoregions) and, and, b) in Section 2.1.5 as “significant wildlife habitat”, in Ecoregions 5E, 6E and 7E that are not subject to policy 2.1.4”.

Check with the Ombudsman's office to see if they have jurisdiction. If he doesn't he should have. If he does he will take action.

At least make it transparent...

Please allow this important economic wetland to stand.

Enough! We need forests not tacky , destructive trailer parks to escalate human disturbance on a fragile ecosystems!

I demand that the LSRCA make this issue transparent and allow the public to have a say in this matter!

Please protect the public interest by turning down this application. As a conservation authority, you have the authority to conserve this wetland, please do so.

I care very much that every provincially significant wetland in Ontario receive full protection, and want to see proof that any nearby development will not encroach in any way.
