I have known these Water Lanes for 80 years, they are a beautiful part of Guernsey and must remain so. Please leave them alone.

I’d hate to see the water lanes covered, just the other day I stopped to take video and have a ‘chat’ with a family of ducks swimming downstream! It would be such a shame to lose/cover the nature, and I can only imagine how much irretrievable litter would collect under a grate! Cyclists can use the path already, just have to dismount and show pedestrians some courtesy!

All these so called experts have had no regard for the residents in the area. They have all consulted with each other but not the residents or regular users of the water lanes. Very condescending of them.
Keep the beauty which exists, keep the area safe by not allowing cyclists to cycle through, which is the current status.

Heavy handed regulations again, concreting over St Peter Port. Are there really accidents happening now needing special measures, or is it just another health & safety over -reaction?

Leave historic St Peter Port alone. The Water Lanes are beautiful and should remain so.

Please leave this beautiful area as it is. Installing metal grids is a horrible and totally unacceptable idea. Water lanes should remain pedestrians only.

The Water Lanes have survived as is for a very long time and adding gratings will be unsightly and collect rubbish
