Save our Water Lanes

We don’t need to ban cyclists, we need to adopt the hierarchy of users. I fully support not allowing the lanes to be gridded over, but it can remains shared space for people on foot, people with dogs, people on bikes, people in wheelchairs and buggies. Shared space is valuable and safe space!

Please don't not change these culturally and ecologically historical water lanes. By making the proposed changes you are eroding the essence of community and the social history of local people.

Leave something of Guernsey to our children and their children

There’s enough places for cyclists without ruining the water lanes!

Just keep bikes out of this lane, simple

My granddaughter learned her first step in the water lane and how many of you have memories of your children and grandchildren walking peacefully and safely in the water lanes I see it every day...

Please don’t spoil the water lanes, leave them as they are

Haven’t the States destroyed enough of Guernsey’s history

They can’t take everything away they don’t own them

We just cannot let these disappear

I played in the water lanes as a child. They are one the most peaceful walks on the island. For God's sake you offer them to visitors on your tourist information.

Used to walk along those lanes when my grandparents lived in Collings Road. A place of tranquility for all so why should they be sealed up just because someone can’t hold their bicycle handlebars straight?
