In such harsh economic times we should be nurturing such small commercial ventures, not pricing them out of a market and leaving yet another building to go derelict in the city. It would be an utter shame to lose The Village.

great wee place. The council should be trying to help places like this, especially in todays climate. Look at how many empty unsightly shops there are in the town. Come on Highland Council have a heart.
This seems like a decision that perhaps might be driven by local shopkeepers. Markets of this sort breate life into an area and frequently bring more visitors which usually also benefits the shops. Marginal cases should always err on the side of the public.

The Village is one of the most inspiring enterprises I've been in. If would be very unfair to the stallholders and to Inverness - I have even been raving about it to friends in Glasgow and we were considering making a trip up there to go!

These sort of indoor markets provide a valuable outlet for small traders and offer an alternative to the High Street shopping experience which is becoming the norm. The popularity of markets all across the country attest to the desirability of retaining such markets whenever possible.

Surely we should be supporting little individual shops in the town centre filling empty unattractive spaces? I think the council just wants to shut the old town down, let's try and fill spaces, the big boys can stay in the shopping malls and lets have loads if little individual shops in the old town how lovely would that be?

Please think again - the unique mix of outlets who come together as the Village provide a welcome breath of fresh air in the city centre. It would be a tragedy to persecute the individual traders in thsi way.
