I am dismayed that the council is so intent on destroying small businesses that are trying so hard to rejuvenate the City. Why can common snse not prevail. Will they only be content when Inverness becomes a ghost town with only the major retailers

This sort of project is exactly what Inverness needs. There must be a way round this.

If the Valuation Committee feel it is not within their powers to allow this they should be asked to consider Part 3 of the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003 which creates a discretionary power enabling local authorities to do anything they consider is likely to promote or improve the well-being of their area and/or persons in it. Inverness now has more empty shops than any other cities & large towns in Scotland. The Village shows what can be done and perhaps some of the shops within it may be able to move into their own premises in time.

Ridiculous to expect a small business like this (even if it was only one trader) to afford that kind of money. Dont even know how big businesses make profit enough to pay that! Highland Council need to decide if they would rather a few folk making a living and providing a service to the town or have another derelict shop unit sitting rotting! That side of town is like a ghost town as it is. Good luck to all at The Village
