Our city centre is all but dead because of the narrow minded, bureaucratic decision making of people such as this. What ever happened to encouraging entrepreneurial spirit, it's what our economy was built on and YOU are killing it.

Valuation Appeal Panel made up of independent lay members of the community. That will be the ex Enterprise, male and over 60 community then. What chance has the future of Inverness and the Highlands when stuck in the past and adverse to change?

Inverness Council needs to start looking to help small businesses instead of hindering or making it impossible to survive. Allow the Village to continue. Take a look at how Perth operates, bring back some originality to the Capital of the Highlands. Make us proud!!

In an economic landscape where retail at all levels is being strangled by ever increasing costs and constantly squeezed margins it is complete madness that the Highland Council would take such a short sighted view of a concept like The Village. If there is ever to be hope of regenerating the "Old Town" area of Inverness it is vital that endeavours such as these are supported in whatever way possible by those in a position to make or break these businesses. Do the Council believe that if the businesses that combine to make The Village disappear due to unaffordable rates that the unit they occupy will magically be filled by some cash rich company? City centres up and down the country are dying because the powers that be refuse to acknowledge that their policies and decision making are strangling any attempt at trying something new, innovative and interesting.
