Children from underserved communities have a right to education as well. Taking out from jobs the teachers these children are well-adjusted to, is not just a threat to the teachers' right to livelihood but the children's ease of access to education as well.

If the current Bolton students are not allowed to attend, they will be sent to other already overpopulated schools which will further hurt their students education while the elite continue to be educated in small classes. They will receive private education at the public school expense. Why does RPSB keep hiring superintendent that don’t think enough of the public schools to allow their children to attend. If his plans are so good, why aren’t his children in public schools?

I hope Bolton high school stays the same. Always crazy new people wanting to change things. Make it their own views when the system from the past worked. But I see things are changing into their own beliefs and opinions. Truly hope it won’t come to that.

So sad that a failing school has been designated as superior and gifted with enormous resources that could be better spent elsewhere. Why not put a performing arts school in a school that already has theatre/music/etc facilities, ie Peabody Magnet HS or Pinevile HS? Bolton is crumbling, doesn’t have the infrastructure to accommodate elementary students, and is substandard. Spend the $ on our elementary schools and ASH! It is a shame that our parish school system isn’t good enough for the school superintendent’s kids.

I am a graduate of Bolton. It is a great school and a landmark in Alexandria. Many former Bolton students have gone on to successful careers and much acclaim. Bolton has the distinction of being on The National Registry, a honor it greatly deserves. Many excellent teachers have served it and its students over many years with great dedication to molding outstanding young people into competent adults and leaders in all sorts of fields of endeavors. Bolton deserves respect that it has earned over the years. It is a travesty to rob competent teachers of positions that they have worked so hard to professionally serve.

Thanks for posting this. Yes RPSB doesn’t have every student concern on their agenda so sad. If I could have another child I would leave this school district.
This is unacceptable!
