Our Japanese and Japanese American elders, the Issei and Nisei were unjustifiably forced into concentration camps and after gaining back their freedom continued to make considerable contributions to America. Continued culturally appropriate care must be provided for them!

For profit entities will gut racial-ethnic programs; such programs are too expensive. It is too bad Keiro Homes could not remain under community control.

The tragedy of selling Keiro 5 years ago continues. Our Obachans and Ojichans deserve better. They need safe and secure permanent housing and consistent and continual excellent medical and culturally sensitive services without the fear and worry of eviction.

It is crucial that the California Attorney General’s Office extend the conditions of sale for the Keiro properties, particularly given the current health and economic crisis that no one could have foreseen five years ago. Tearing down the building and displacing the elder could not come at a more difficult time. The emotional and physical impact will be devastating for the elders as well as their families. It will stop culturally appropriate services when they are needed the most as well as place an undue burden on families who want to take care of their elder are torn between taking care of elder family members while struggling to survive themselves.

These Seniors need the services and continuous housing that their facility provides to them. They need the language assistance here as well.

Our seniors need these services that this facility provides. As we all know when there are language barriers it becomes a stressful situation for those who rely on the assistance that is provided.
