I have experience of walking and cycling this route to Weaverham and it is not pleasant due to the narrow footpath and high speed of passing vehicles. I ask the councillors who proposed this to walk this for themselves in the morning rush hour and not take the decision from behind their desks. Will it take a child to be injured or killed for the decision to be reversed?

To expect a child to walk along the stretch of the A49 between Cuddington and Weaverham, twice a day, is absurd. It will be torture in Winter with HGV's piling down there at 60mph. I would challenge whoever made this thoughtless decision to try doing it themselves!

I am supporting this petition because I am in no doubt that the root is unsafe for large volumes of children to walk between Cuddington-Sandiway and Weaverham. While I am happy for my children to walk 2.9 from my door to school it must be by a safe route. I will not put their safety at risk.

A pedestrian crossing will not suffice! it is unsafe, and the kids will be drenched in bad weather!

I teach at Cuddington Primary, how can parents walk to the high school for 8.30 and back to Cuddington Primary with younger children And toddlers or babies in push chairs? This puts whole families at risk, I thought safe guarding was important!

I am signing this petitions in protest of the council removing the school bus after they deem a 3 mile walk on a 60mph A49 road safe.
You are putting our children at risk just to save money.

Having walked this road even just once as a 16 yes old (year 11) student I know hoe unsafe it feels to walk along this road. The fact that there are vehicles travelling at speed and I'm very close proximity to (in some places directy next to) the pavement means it would be incrediy dangerous for children and especially young children, remembering children are only 11 when they begin high school. I think it would be very irresponsible to expect children to walk to school along that road and may mean parents have to be relied on a great deal more either to walk with or drive children to school. The former is ignorant to the fact that that is impractical for so many parents to walk their children to school thay far, perhaps due to jobs. The latter is polluting and congestion creating, which are often reasons why buses are brought in.
As a former student at weaverham high school and still a resident in the cuddington/sandiway community I think you would be making a bit mistake stopping these buses, and as a young adult who is beginning to form her political views etc...I would b incredibly disapointed if this were to take place.

Our daughter is one of the children that this decision will affect. We are really concerned that a money saving opportunity has taken priority of the safety of our and other children. This really needs to be reversed.

Even driving to Weaverham High is bad enough getting round the roundabout and turning into Forest st. Then Lime ave. pupils will have to cross over forest street twice with the Gorstage road traffic turning into there path An accident waiting to happen

Is this yet another decision made by people who have no knowledge of the area and no concern for the safety of children. Safeguarding extends to you too CWAC !

Its very worrying that this is considered a safe route for children to walk, the traffic is fast there are lots of large vehicles, added to this there are inadequate crossing provisions at junctions along the road. In the winter especially this will be a dangerous and precarious walk for a significant number of children.

Walked this road totally immoral and beyond sense or reason to expect School Children to walk this route twice a day in all weathers carrying what ever equipment they require for a school day.

Is all this a backdoor to charging for a school bus? If a child is seriously injured, or worse, after all these warnings, would the council be liable for criminal charges?
