From my experience of driving regularly along the A49 at that location I cannot understand how CWAC can state it is a safe walking route. It is a busy trunk road with a 60mph speed limit.
If a child were to make a mistake and end up on the road they would be killed.

I wholeheartedly support this cause. I am more than happy for my 11year old son to walk to school but for the route (path less than 5feet away from traffic moving in excess of 60mph with no barrier) to be deemed safe, is unacceptable.
It will only take one injury or death to validate what the parents of Cuddington have been saying all along.

I'd hate my children to have to walk down this road, alone on a cold dark rainy winter's evening, and with cars and lorries whizzing by at 60mph just a few feet to the side. To then have to cross it?
It's too isolated too. There are too many zones where a pervert might lie in waiting.

The only way to make this a safe walking route would be to reduce the speed limit to 30mph on the stretch of road between Eden Grange and Weaverham and to and widen the pavement

No way is the A49 a safe walking route especially at the Weaverham roundabout where children have to cross a junction with cars coming at them from 4 roads.

Yes it is a short distance but it is a very busy road and would not want children walking it daily, particularly in the winter with dark mornings and afternoons, want children to arrive safely to school!

Save our school bus! Parents cannot afford new proposals. Especially full time working single mums with a mortgage to pay!!

Absolutely ridiculous, there is no way that road is safe for children to be walking up and down every day. Traffic goes far too fast along there exceeding the 60 limit, add in groups of young school children walking right alongside and its a disaster waiting to happen.

This route is far too dangerous for children from 11 yrs to 16 yrs. no footpath all
The way have to cross s busy trunk road with heavy goods vehicles cars etc all exceeding 60 plus mph at least 5 times. No barriers I would like to see if the people who agreed to this would let there young people walk. A private company bus is to charge £15 per weekly pass if children do not walk!!!!!! Disgusting
