I did some work with pinewood nursery nurses while working for the social work department. They were a massive help and support to pupils, families and professionals as well as supporting the teachers in a complex role. They don't just play games they encourage development and independence, enabling young people to have the skills and confidence they need to live fulfilled lives. They have to stay.

Why is West Lothian Council pulling apart an educational system that has been invaluable to our special needs children for the last 4 decades

As a parent of a pupil at Pinewood, I cannot express strongly enough that ALL the current support the kids get here is their lifeline. We can't fail our kids xxx

Surely these children deserve all the expertise and support they need. It was not their fault.

As the former depute head at a similar school I know that the additional skills and responsibilities of a nursery nurse are essential in the classroom. Planning and liaison time cannot take place when children are present so time is needed for this. Classrooms need teachers, nursery nurses and classroom support staff. All have different training, skills and roles and together build an effective team.

Like all children and young people, I believe that the pupils attending ASN schools should be provided with both staff and resources to enable them to achieve their potential. I feel that during this 'process' a number of the childrens rights are being ignored, in particular: Articles 1, 2,3,5, 6 and 23.

We shouldn't have to fight for our children's educational rights, they have the right to an education suited to their needs.

Getting It Right For Every Child !!! I think not. Absolutely disgraceful . We are containing our children not giving them the environment and opportunities to meet their potential the way they learn !! Please think again !
