Please reconsider. Model rocketry is a great activity for families and kids, and very safe when instituted correctly.

This is a case where the benefits of many outweigh the whining vocal few. Park officials need to stop listening to the small minority of pooh poohers.

Lakewood and BCLP should take pride in the fact that they have hosted such a high-caliber rocketry association for over 3 decades. CRASH's dedication to safety and education, and providing a warm, friendly and welcoming organization to all rocketeers, new and experienced, is an asset to the city and surrounding area. I know that myself and others from outside the metro area make the effort to attend CRASH launches precisely because of the benefits of being associated with this group. I have introduced numerous family and friends to rocketry via CRASH. I believe the park's concerns have been more than adequately addressed by the current leadership and the organization's long positive track record. Instead of trying to close down an educational, safe and extremely popular activity, strive instead to embrace the positive mutual benefits of continuing this partnership. And don't forget the extra revenue this generates for the park.

I am a Rocket Scientist. Working on a Class 3 Space Flight. The children need this.

I teach physics and two other science classes that use rocketry to reinforce many science concepts like Newton's laws, energy, momentum, center of mass, and torque. Rocketry is a fantastic way to introduce and hook students on STEM subjects.

Love spending time in Colorado launching rockets and spending money. Hate to see it changed

Model rocketry is #1 about safety and education! This hobby brings young minds into high tech world jobs later in life and keeps kids from doing far worse, dangerous and health hazardous things. Do the right thing and support this Colorado!

As a Mom, former Girl Scout Leader, former Cub Scout Leader and a former tutor...I beg you to support Rocketry for the children. Rocketry is a hands on, applied science where the children can see the results of their work when the rockets fly. An organized launch is important to allow enough space for the rockets to be safely launched. To have an actual club with equipment overseeing the launch is a rare thing. Please think of the kids and support the club launches.

6 hours a month for kids to be creative OFF their phones isn't much to ask for. Come on Colorado! Lets do the right thing here!

A real loss of rare educational hobby area, rather than looking at this as gem of a service they are walking away from a public service.

Far too many open space activities have been discontinued due to the kneejerk responses of politicians over political correctness and perceived "liability" issues. We're rapidly becoming a "bubble boy" society, whose only activities that have any assemblance of (risk) is "virtual", in a video game on their iPad. The same mentality that seeks to eliminate safe, regulated and supervised launches have already eliminated swings, monkey bars and a plethora of other playground activities. Eliminating park launches, isn't just stopping kids from such activities at the park. It's eliminating the incentive for the preparation of those launches. It's the elimination of the incentive to get those young minds out of computer games and into the "science" of rocketry; the imagination that spurs a design; the technology of construction; the hours of hands-on building of a rocket and the family's cooperative efforts and planning. Family time and community interaction and yes, competition and the pride of a successful launch (and recovery). Don't be so paranoid about the (possibly) that something could happen that you condem a child to experience life from inside the bubble wrap of "protection". Just because you have the power to stop a child from running, doesn't make them safe from falling and having to put a Band-Aid on a booboo. Give kids the chance to fly, or fail. It's called "Life".
