Model rocketry is a clear educational and recreational benefit to the community. The National Association of Rocketry (of which CRASH is a chapter) works with the National Fire Prevention Association, the Federal Aviation Administration, and other government agencies to develop safety standards that have resulted in a decades-long record of safe flying; in addition to that, the NAR and its local clubs are extremely well insured.
I have not personally flown with CRASH, but I can see from their website that they take extra precautions over and above even the NAR standards to mitigate fire risks. I cannot imagine that could be a valid reason to expel them from the park.

The risk is low, with a history of safe launches. Model Rocketry is an excellent activity for families, and encourages an interest in STEM academics.

Sound like 30 years of education and fun activity while not having caused any problems SHOULD be allowed to continue. Maybe we should look at replacing the “park officials “ for dereliction of duty in creating a problem where is is none.

My father would never have become an aerospace engineer without his interest being peaked as a youth. We need our engineers!

Fire is a legitimate concern but a non-issue when properly managed. Given that this is a PUBLIC park with a 3 decade usage pattern formally established by park officials themselves my question for them would be… Why do the desires of a minority of park users take priority? Essentially, why is one group being discriminated against at the demand of another?

As we try to encourage our children to take interest in the sciences and technology, we should encourage MORE use of our public spaces for activities such as the rocket launches, NOT less!

Model rocketry is a safe and educational hobby for kids and adults. This club ask to use your park 24 days a year for a few hours. I respectfully ask you to reconsider

We literally launch 100s of rockets a year with no safety issues or fires. Model rocketry is the future for aspiring engineers which is what our world needs if we are going to any chance of saving our planet. PLEASE allow young engineers to dream and explore!!!

As a scout leader, these kinds of sites are an absolute necessity. When we were kids, we could launch in any open space, park, or school yard, but open spaces are getting hard to find and schools are worried about liability. It's a different world than the one we grew up in. If the parks shut us out, clubs like this one, and all the scouts in the area, will have nowhere to go. In this case, the Scouts can't just move over to "the next field", there is no "next field.". This is the end. If this is lost, the scouts, and club, have *nowhere* to go.
