maternity wards are needed in both Burnie and Devonport. Shame on boofhead pollies who wouldn't have a clue as to what women need. Keep rocking up to the Mersey to have your babies girls.

The maternity is greatly needed in the devonport area due to the huge area people come from to use the Merseys Services. Devonport may only be 40min from Burnie however patients who come from Elizabeth town, Sheffield, Shearwater, Deloraine, Tullah, Wilmot, and all areas south of Ulverstone are not and this will mean higher chances of babies being born on the way to hospital. Its crazy the amount of times i have admitted patients in labour and then within half hour their baby. Come on we are suppose to be a population moving forward not backwards!

Why should certain people have to travel hours to Burnie!! When it could be hard enough for them to get to latrobe!

shortsighted government action, do you not recall the woman who did not make it from west coast to Burnie, now you want to try it from Devonport areas

to close this facility will only result in more roadside deliveries, which could be detrimental to both mother and child, I had an antepartum haemorrhage due to a placental abruption with one of mine, and had it not been for the Mersey either me or my child, possibly even both of us , may not have been here today,as the trip to either Launceston or Burnie would've been to long and we wouldn't have made it in time

I birthed all my babies there and all the staff are fantastic. Dont put these wonderful, talented people out of a job

Both my children were born here, I wouldn't want them to be born anywhere else! And if we were to have another child, this is the hospital I would want that child to be born at! Excellent, friendly Midwives and Doctors, and the facilities are fantastic. We need centralized care between Burnie and Launceston!

To close the ward would be ridiculous...I had 6 short labours and there is no way I would have made it to burnie or Launceston. ..we need the maternity ward at Latrobe! !!!

This is a terrible idea, it's an hr either way to get to a hospital from my place. I also had to drive myself to hospital which I could not have done if I were travelling to Burnie or launceston. My husband also would have not seen us as much because he has his own small business and was back 2 days after our son was born. Please re consider
