I would hate to have to go to Burnie to have my baby. It's really frightening to think medical help is going to be so far away.

Love the Mersey and the staff at the Maternity Unit. Have had all 5 of my babies there and about to have no.6. Love being so close to family and friends as well.

I think the community & general population of the Devonport area deserve the right , to keep the maternity section.
It is a vital service required in this area. Sending patients to Burnie or launceston is an unnecessary measure & approach to our all ready drained strained health care System. Not to mention the added stresses placed on families with travel , visiting & financial. Implications caused by merseys maternity ward being closed .

How are Burnie going to fit in the 300 + maternity patients that go there from the Devonport/Latrobe/Shearwater area?

I had all 3 of my children at the mersey, the most recent being only 4 months ago. The doctors & midwives were so professional, caring & supportive. Be a real shame to see it close, I would've hated travelling to burnie & it makes it so hard for partners & children going to visit. We NEED this facility, please don't take it away.

I cannot speak highly enough of the midwives and doctors at mersey hospital. We are planning on having our 2nd child in the very near future and I'd be devastated if I couldn't go back to latrobe. Please keep it open

My 7 grandsons were born in Latrobe over the past 12 years. It is a very important part of the medical community at this end of the coast and would leave a gaping hole in the services at the Mersey

It would be terribly devastating for the maternity ward to close

Removing this service form this part of the coast is going to cause a lot of anxiety for pregnant mums. it is inequitable that may patients who can ill afford it will need to travel to Burnie for appointments and the birth in times when finances are tight for many people.

I had my baby at the Mersey and it was fantastic. Brilliant, professional, confident staff and great facilities. It'd be such a shame to loose it.

Don't take it away!!!! People like me can't afford to travel to Burnie or Launceston for appointments. And probably wouldn't make it once in labour!!
It's our right to have a close hospital that can cater for pregnant women!!

We need this area to stay open for the safety of the mum's and babies that have short labours and for their support circle.
