We live at Port Sorell and it's too far to travel to Burnie for weekly/fortnightly appointments and when bubs arrives.

I had many visits out there when i had my daughter about a year ago. Its a good set up a bit small in visitation room,s but waiting area is very comfy a great if you have other children. Why shut it down many pregnant women need check ups the pathology in Devonport are over run. Are you going to replace it with better if not leave it alone.

Yes, let's travel nearly an hour while in labour. Would probably deliver the baby before getting to the hospital!

Essential care should e for all women. The 3rd most densly populated and fastest growing area of Tasmania needs maternity care. Pleasr let common sense prevail.

I have just spent over $10,000 to relocate for my graduate year and I love working at the Mersey. The community spirit is wonderful there and the women and babies get the best care possible. There will be many midwives who are unable to move to Burnie and we may lose many brilliant midwives. A very sad loss for Tasmania. We should be increasing services at both hospitals and expanding the health care system, not minimising it!

Please show some common sense regarding the closure of the maternity Services at the Mersey and leave things as they are, with Burnie catering for the expectant Mothers from the Wynyard, Circular Head, West Coast and Burnie areas with the Mersey catering for one of the fastest growing areas of the state, The Latrobe municipality along with Kentish and Devonport areas, The NW Regional Hospital at Burnie does not have the room to cater for the Mothers from the other areas nor is it able to be expanded. Please put common sense before pride!

After not wanting to give birth at the Mersey hospital, and then having a miscarriage and HAVING to go to the Mersey to be hospitalised - I couldn't have asked for better treatment or patient care that I recieved (from ALL staff). I'm so glad that I was able to give birth to my first child at Mersey and wld love to have the opportunity to do so again.

My child was born at latrobe and I'd like my next (due dec) born there too. This hospital serves deloraine thru to ulvy at least and if gone could only have a negative effect on the community

I had my daughter at Devonport Maternity and proud she was born there. I don't think it is fair for mothers to have to travel to Burnie to have a baby when the hospital in Latrobe is there not just for pregnant women but for anyone that needs to go to hospital.. I had 2 son's in there at the same time many years ago, back then I didn't drive so I would never have been able to spend the time with them if I had to travel to Burnie. The Latrobe hospital was close enough my family could take me..
