This is a much needed service for our hospital. Not every labour lasts longer than the 30-45 mins it takes to get to Burnie. I can just imagine how many babies will be born on the side of the highway or at home because of this rediculous decision

It makes no sense to remove such a valuable service to the community! Vulnerable pregnant ladies should be catered to locally and not have to travel over an hour for assistance. Health and safety needs to be the priority!!

This could put so many mum and babies in danger if they can't get to the bigger hospitals it time or if it's a emergency

See if I have this right, Burnie does not have a maternity ward, (except at the private hospital) so they will need to create one! Hmm, didn't the Federal Gov just pay for huge upgrades to the Maternity ward at Latrobe? Typical pollies can't get it right still!!

Burnie is too far for a lot of women, both in safety and comfort in travelling there. Especially those living East or South of Devonport. I had 2 children born in Burnie, living in Devonport for 1 and having to travel to and from the Burnie hospital 3 times in 24 hours during that labour, this is a 110km round trip. Even having to travel from Ulverstone for another left my baby being born in the car, not an extremely rare occurrence on the north west coast.

Save the maternity ward! It will make life very hard for many to have to travel regularly to burnie during and after pregnancy..

When I was a patient at the Latrobe Maternity ward for the birth of my son they transported pregnant women and women who had already given birth from Burnie to Latrobe as Burnie did not have enough beds so how is Burnie going to cope at busy times? The government is breaching their duty of care!

All you overpaid politicians stop kicking the guts out of this hospital , you have been doing it since 1995 . Rise up people of Latrobe and surrounding districts and kick them in the guts !

Get behind this and sign. Save the Maternity ward of the Mersey. If this closes the people from Devonport and surrounding would have to travel to Burnie.
