Stop the demolition of Iceland! This local Iceland supermarket is extremely useful to all local residents and for people who work in the area, for food shopping without having to travel too far away from the locality of Hoxton, especially useful for the local elderly and for the local disabled Iceland customers

This is local and affordable to the local community many of those on a tight budget. Jobs for the locals employed will be affected.

The Iceland store is the only supermarket in Hoxton, it is used by all the local residents including many older and disabled residents who rely on it for good value food and household goods. I personally shop there several times every week and it has an excellent variety of fresh and frozen food.

Leave our local Iceland, local chemist and local character alone, they've served us well, they're all needed and cherished as part of our social fabric, stay away!!

Most of the other stores in the area are smaller or more expensive than what's on offer here and the addition of private flats and the demolition of the Iceland would be a huge blow for the street and for the local area which doesn't have a real, affordable alternative and the private homes are not adding to the community or providing homes for the needy.

Whilst I agree with all the comments that have been made. I will be very surprised if Iceland stays. No amount of Mayor's or Councillor's will make a difference to the outcome. Hackney's Planning Department will have the overall say on the outcome.

The last thing the area need is another block of private sale apartment. Iceland has played an integral part in the local community in terms of affordable shopping needs.

Iceland should be kept for the benefit of the community and not flats for the luxury of a few.

Keep Iceland in Hoxton market open. Objection to planning permission being granted to Blair Estates by Hackney Council to build flats on the site where Iceland now sits. Iceland Hoxton is heavely used by all the locals who live and reside in and around hoxton vicinity and it would be a huge loss and a massive inconvenience to the locals if iceland was closed down.

Iceland in Hoxton Market has for more years than I can remember been a vital local resource. For the everyday essentials like milk or bread or for lots of frozen foods obviously such as fish fingers burgers, sausages, mince, pizzas ice creams and other deserts all under one roof and affordable.
The ease to get to on foot from where I live, the prices and convenience all of which we will lose for up to a year while we put up with the building work disrupting life in and around Hoxton and that's if Iceland take up the oh so sincere offer from the developers to come back and take up the new space.
I highly doubt this petition will do anything to stop the destruction of a local amenity or that the developers who will likely have pound£ signs in their eyes care what they are doing to the locals who will be unlikely to afford to live in however many flats they squeeze on to the site.
All they'll be interested in is the possible money to be made.

If Iceland is shut to make way for more flats that local people cannot afford it would be the end of Hoxton Street market, there is hardly any shops in Hoxton as it is so where do the planners expect the locals to go ??

Hoxton needs a decent sized supermarket, personally I would question whether it needs more luxury flats but surely there is room for both?

The amenities for ordinary people in Hoxton are being eroded by property owners chasing big bucks by developing 'luxury' housing. It's got to end before the local people are forced to move out.
