No to the proposed charter school for more than one reason:
85 years of history, displacement of kids zoned for ABE, increased traffic, and ABE’s consistent A-ratings by the school board.

We chose to move here from Seattle 6 years ago because of the community found in Atlantic Beach and this school is a major anchor in that community.

No to charter schools!! Atlantic Beach Elementary consistently earns an A rating and serves the community. Replacing it with a charter school would be erasing a piece of local history. Charter schools still get funding from the district but are selective with who they accept which means some local students will be displaced.

Even though my kid didn’t go to the school, this is one of the best ones around. We went to Nbe. I can’t imagine a change like this to our community. Please don’t take take the school away from us!

Why would you shut down an A school? I get we can save money but shouldn't the goal be learning outcomes? It's not a for-profit county.

I vote to leave AB Elementary alone. Its a historical treasure for AB. 85 years! All four of us siblings attended that school in the 50’s and early 60’s. Its holds a lot of memories for many of us that grew up here.

Having an excellent neighborhood school like ABE is part of why this community is so special. Closing this school is NOT in the best interest of the children.
