I understand that many of you are apprehensive about opening a clinic in our community. Methadone clinics are incredibly stigmatized. But please know that they are a proven form of medication-assisted treatment for people with opioid dependence. .
Delaware county is in the midst of an overdose crisis, and this clinic is urgently needed to save the lives of our community members. We've already had 648 community members die from overdose in the last three years (see second article link)... how many more deaths do we need to be compassionate about this crisis?

This number is likely even higher now. By being able to provide methadone in the county, people in our community will have an evidence-based treatment option that can literally save them from death by overdose.
Also, it's important to know that methadone programs require that a patient go to the clinic every day to receive their medication, which they take while at the program-- in other words, it's highly unlikely that the clinic will bring people from miles away, as it would be difficult for them to make the daily trip. Instead, this clinic will be serving people within our community that need this service in order to get treatment before it's too late.

Absolutely No, to this clinic in our neighborhood!!! We do not need this facility in our quiet peaceful area! It will be right next door to a supermarket and too close to our schools! This is a small residential area and not equipped to handle the constant traffic, this place will bring!! No, No, No!!!! Horrible ideal!!!!

Mayor Kenny should keep his drug problems in his city not farm them out to the small communities.
This facility needs to be in an industrial park or a hospital setting where it cannot impact a residential area with children, seniors, schools and the quality of life for people who are just trying to create a good life for themselves.

Lansdowne, a small (one-square mile) residential community with multiple churches and public and private schools, should never even have been considered as an appropriate location for such an undesirable facility. There’s drug clinics in areas of high drug use that continue to have high drug use. All this is going to do is bring in more addicts at taxpayers expense. Why not fix/repave roads in Lansdowne instead, or something else that helps the majority of the residents who live in Lansdowne?

Lansdowne is struggling to recover from an economic slump, and this will not help at all. Not to mention it will create an unsafe environment for the students and neighbors!

Atrocity! This center is not welcome here in Lansdowne or anywhere near it. Drugs are already an epidemic - handing out "legal" drugs is not going to make the drug problem go away; it just adds to it. We have to save our children who are the future. This center will become a haven for drug addicts and riff raff and create a danger to the neighborhood.
