Wireless telecommunications is energy intensive, easily disrupted and intercepted, and lacks the resilience of hard-wired infrastructure. It forces people with sensitivities to tolerate more pain, harms the health of millions of other people and disrupts ecosystems. It is popular and convenient, but in the long term, a real loser.

There are still plenty of seniors like me who don't use a mobile phone. Both the landline and internet were off for several hours on two successive days last week which meant I was totally incommunicado. Landlines must continue and be properly maintained.

Please don't take this away - it saves my life. I live in a village where the mobile signal is often down. My landline is crucial for my safety.

My father age 88 years beefs his land line as he cannot use a mobile -its essential

Older people still need them. or have we forgotten the older population.

I will not tolerate the digital junk. Analogue landline has to be saved right now. Landline is at risk of extinction. And then no lives will be saved anymore. Shutting off landline is a suicide.

The whole idea is dangerous and will leave people at risk of losing their lives in emergencies. We only have to watch news bulletins to see how unreliable internet communications are on a daily basis.

In this part of Herefordshire, mobile reception is very poor. We rely on the landline.

Also, where we have already been forced to link to routers, we should be able to reconnect to the copper landline network.

Landlines are invaluable. The Internet is unreliable. Where is Elon Musk?

I think the maintenance of the landlines is being neglected, deliberately probably, to make people accept the digital phones. I rely on my land line, as I am housebound. The mobile signal is very patchy, and the internet here drops to zero several times a week, sometimes several times a day ( rural Suffolk)

Living in a rural area with regular power outages this is very worrying. We normally loose mobile access during power outages too.

BT has switched off my elderly widow Mums landline and left her with no phone in sub zero temperatures

keep our landlines theres nothign workng with the service. our neighbohood never has internet and phone calls drop ridiculaously! if they would let us get a landline phone i could be safe and talk on the phone at least!

To become resilient to storminess and heatwaves we need many different methods of communicating (as well eating & everything else)
