I played pinball in the back of Maple Grove Resort in 1978 until finally my family had the chance to buy a lot. I’ve cared and respected Lake Sutherland since the minute I saw it . To have people say that those of us that don’t agree or have the same interests at “our“ lake are selfish
is very disappointing. Our large floating dock has not been affected by storms or waves. However my shoreline, lawn and home have most certainly had damage by the winters and fall. Our children are safe, aware of all water dangers and wearing life jackets. Not to mention not out of our sight. We have our boating license, respect the Bouys ( many are gone the last 10 years) and have noted for years that on the lake we do certain water sports at certain times. This isn’t new. We share, we help, we care and we make memories.

As a property owner on lake Sutherland I fill wake boarders / wave runners have the right to continue to use the lake for water craft sports . There might be a few bad apples but most people Show respect For property owners and wake zones .

It’s sad that we are at a place where neighbors are using governmental preceding for this issue instead of just talking to each other. In a different time our Lake Sutherland community would’ve been able to handle this locally without escalating to the comissioners office. I keep thinking how all this will be in the back of our head every time we enjoy the lake now.

There are existing regulations in place at Lake Sutherland to address safe boating . We have never ever experienced dock or shoreline damage , from boat waves , to our property .

No ban on boats or jet skis at Lake Sutherland. Families have to much fun with them and us older people enjoy watching.

To ban one particular “style” of sport boat isn’t right. To ban any boat with a ballast system, basically means any boat that has been made in the last 20 to 25 years that’s not a rowboat could/should/would be banned. And it’s not a matter of them wanting to ban one particular kind of boat, it’s only the beginning of a very slippery slope before there are no boats, Jetski’s or anything allowed on the lake. It’s the bigger picture.
And then you also get into the argument of what truly defines a wake surf boat? It’s only a matter of weight dispersement in any boat that differentiates how big of a wave it’s going to make. You could put enough weight or people in a trawler motor boat and create a wave big enough for someone to complain about.
People need to get their facts straight before they start trying to blame one particular style of boat. There’s science and studies to prove that these boats do not cause the issues that some are complaining about. If you are supporting the ban of this particular kind of boat and it goes through you might as well kiss your boat and your Jetski’s goodbye as well because it’s going to happen. Slippery slope!

We can't image not being able to enjoy boating with our kids and family and friends on Lake Sutherland. The kids especially enjoy tubing behind the boat and would be devastated to know that they couldn't do that anymore.

And it’s not a matter of them wanting to ban one particular kind of boat, it’s only the beginning of a very slippery slope before there are no boats, Jetski’s or anything allowed on the lake. It’s the bigger picture.
And then you also get into the argument of what truly defines a wake surf boat? It’s only a matter of weight dispersement in any boat that differentiates how big of a wave it’s going to make. You could put enough weight or people in a trawler motor boat and create a wave big enough for someone to complain about.

There’s science and studies to prove that these boats do not cause the issues that some are complaining about. My wife and I own a high dollar price of property on lake Sutherland and have had no damage due to wake boats . We just bought a mastercraft xstar for our family and we are respectful while enjoying it. There is no reason to put a ban on these type of boats . From what I have seen for the most part, most of the wake boats stay away from shore. These boats operate a 10 to 12 miles per hour and are very safe compared to speed boats.

Not a fan of banning watercraft, buoys a great idea! Keep recreation open as sports come and go, family recreating is golden.

I have been skiing and jet skiing on Lake Sutherland my whole life! I was devastated when they took the skis off Lake Crescent taking them off Sutherland would be a tragedy for me and my children and many others!
