SAVE OUR HOOPS and LET THE KIDS PLAY

My concerns are more about people speeding down Temple Road, car break-ins and unwanted solicitors. Keep the kids safe and playing in our own yards.

The size of our homes are designed for families. Let’s not make our community unattractive to those families by banning healthy activities. A neighborhood can gain a reputation and we don’t want a negative one.

I too see no problem with portable hoops as long as they're maintained. I agree that we need to give our kids as many reasons as we can to be active and outside :))

I am member of THHA Board and disagree with this policy and support this petition.

I am uncertain of why having a portable goal is an "eyesore". Having a basketball goal promotes positive behavior for our kids! Please reconsider revoking this bylaw.

We had a portable basketball goal at the top of our driveway from the early 90's till we sold it to a family in Westhaven. It makes more sense to have it be 'portable' than permanent in concrete. We were heartbroken when our neighbors were told to get rid of theirs! They have 4 basketball players at home, and all are very good. We thought is was actually very mean.

I believe it is not the HOA’s purpose and they have not only overstepped their authority but also ignored what a large portion of our communtity would want in regards to this matter. It is also not part of our original bi laws and should not have to be observed.

Too bad I already got rid of my very nice portable basketball goal that was behind our house that my boys enjoyed. Thumbs down to the HOA for passing such an unsubstantiated sweeping nonsensical rule.

Just like the pool not having a summer social membership for kids, this community has always felt more adult-priority focused to us. Basketball in our driveway was the one activity my son really enjoyed here.

I am fully in support of this. My driveway configuration does not allow for a permanent goal to be placed, and I have an eight-year-old daughter who wants to practice and play basketball. We should be encouraging our kids to go outside and play as much as we can. Let use commonsense and do away with this bylaw.

Temporary goals? Seems this would IMPROVE property value. Plus, how harmful is a child/teen/adult shooting hoops in a safe environment in their own neighborhood? Temporary sounds like a win win solution, plus it would provide our children an outlet for fun and exercise while in a safe environment in their own neighborhood!

This is an issue worthy of further discussion instead of penalizing parents trying to keep kids active and not having to make additional financial commitments.

None of us see any reason why property values would ever decrease by homeowners having portable basketball goals. At least we want our kids to be outside having a healthy physical outlet as opposed to vandalizing golf course and/or pool property. -- This seemingly antiquated bylaw is unwarranted and unnecessary. PLEASE HELP US AND LET OUR KIDS BE KIDS!!

Actually, I think portable goals are better than perm. ones which can't be easily removed or repaired. As far as home values go, with perm ones, the new home owner is stuck with that, whereas portable ones can be removed by the seller.
