I'm in agreement that PBGs are an important item to have for kids to be active. However, they do become and eyesore if they fall into a state of disrepair and neglect. So, I'll sign the petition, but do have some slight concerns. (Note: Kids are grown and I have no goal)

My home had a permanent basketball goal when it was purchased back in 2000. We have a portable goal for well over a decade.

I think we have larger problems the HOA should focus on in Temple Hills. Portable basketball goals is not one of them. We bought here because we were told Temple Hills is a great place for children. We were not told it was a retirement community. Thanks Wayne for all your help!

I have no issue with the portables and with the recent proposed ideas I read about on Nextdoor, I think most anyone would feel it's a win-win for all.

Thank you, Wayne! This bylaw absolutely needs to be changed. I firmly believe the HOA has overstepped its mandate, which is to protect property values. Portable basketball goals have no effect - positive or negative - on property values, but they do have positive impact on the children who enjoy them...my son being one. They are a lifestyle choice made by parents for the benefit of their kids. The bylaw, as it stands now, is an ill-conceived, unwarranted intrusion on individual homeowner's rights.
