The real culprits are Sports and Leisure Management Ltd the holding company behind everyone active. They have applied the American business model of sweating the assets of council funded leisure facilities, such as the publicly funded £14 million Abbey Leisure Centre, to the detriment of the local communities throughout the UK since 1987. ‘sweating’ assets is the process of increasing the profits generated from a company's ASSETS where the RETURN ON CAPITAL EMPLOYED is inadequate. This could involve increasing selling prices of products; reducing unit production and selling costs; increasing sales volumes using present assets; or reducing the FIXED ASSETS and CURRENT ASSETS employed to achieve the present sales volume. Sweating assets is often a strategy employed after a company has been taken over.

Destroyers of Local Community Sports Centres, that’s what Everyone Active are.
I've editied this quite a few times, for the deeper I dig the more upsetting it becomes. EveryoneActive are soulless people who move in and break-up local communities by buying up struggling, but friendly, happy, family community sports centres and then turn them into hard corporate businesses. They are the sort of people who worship the synergy of their corporate branding - all very cold and uncaring. Staff and customers alike often leave and go elsewhere, but through their arrogance EveryoneActive doesn’t care because they’ve swallowed up around 90% of the Nation’s swimming pools and they assume that customers and staff can be easily replaced - they are Empire builders who want to monopolise the leisure business into a National network, and a cursory browse through their website reveals an epic cast of top end management who no doubt sponge up the profits. They are the 'Ryanair' of the sports leisure industry - ie. everyone uses them, but everyone also dislikes them. It's forced and aggressive marketing, making sure that they are the only service providers around and thus eliminating choice. Our community sports centre was renowned for its dance studio, fitness classes, and gym, all going to be destroyed by Everyone Active.
