Green Belt should remain as exactly that Green Belt. It was a government policy, as far as I'm aware, to keep areas of largely undeveloped wild or agricultural land. Certainly not for the development of a gypsy camp.

Calcutt is a small village, and already has a designated site at the top of Thistle Hill for the gypsies, surely this is enough. We have had gypsies living on Thistle Hill in the past, and been left to clear up all the mess they left behind.
The two areas in question, Thistle Hill and Cass Lane, are definitely not suitable owing to the fact that there are a lot of private houses nearby. I'm sure that the value of property would decrease.
Why do the councillors give Gypsies preference , whilst building applications for houses for the indigenous population are turned down.

We object to this planning application going ahead and being passed.
All these sites are in the Green Belt, and I have brought this to Harrogate Borough Councils planning Dept notice on several occasions over the last 3/6 years. I have hard copy to these objections should you need verification. The Cass lane sites are on temporary tenure due to childrens medical needs. This has not prevented both sites from being turned into civil engineering works sites. Civil engineering machinery is kept on site on a permanent bases and the burning of cable to extract copper wire is practiced with regularity,in contravention of the temporary planning arrangements.
Cass Lane is a public bridleway and not be hindered by guard dogs or locked gates. The Green Belt is The Green Belt and planning permission applies to EVERYONE , not just to certain sections of our society, which if allowed, makes a complete mockery of the who system. I am a great believer in maintaining the integrity of what is known as the Knaresborough Triangle.
This gives a whole green lung to this side of Harrogate/Knaresborough, and as the air quality problems of certain parts of Harrogate and Knaresborough are already widely expressed in the local press these green spaces should be protected at all cost!.This green and pleasant area of land presents a beautiful entrance to the whole area of to the south and east of Harrogate/ Knaresborough.
This is the thin edge of the wedge to the complete erosion of the whole of the green Belt between Harrogate and the Southern Bypass if allowed to to develop and progress. It will result in complete planning anarchy. where any one can come along and build where they like, with impunity.

We strongly object to the proposal to take 3 sites out of the green belt - most unfair on the other residents who would like to build but are refused planning permission- the same rules should apply to everyone.

HBC should identify a suitable brownfield site and invest in amenities with appropriate room for expansion

I think HBC is wrong to consider allowing the use of green belt area for permanent buildings or caravans. Brown field or green field should be first choice.

There is no justification for the council to remove green belt status from the three proposed sites (K40, K41 and K42). There are alternative locations that are not part of green belt.

If we don't try and prevent this the authorities will just 'steamroller' other proposals through on the grounds that locals don't care. We do !.

There are valuable wildlife that need protection from urbanisation in and around Calcutt. The roads are already treacherous to cross for pedestrians and pollution levels aren't healthy either at present.
