I have walked this field from time to time and it would be an unnecessary loss of public amenity - cricket can still be p[layed in a field without a fence.

Open spaces offering physical safety and helping people’s well-being are systematically being stolen from the public . The council have a duty of care to serve the council tax paying population particular in terms of children playing safely and people’s well-being versus a cricket club .

Planning permission is not given for a development of existing open spaces that local communities need. Green space should be should be accessible to all

I used this field growing up as did many others of my generation so why should future generations be deprived of it.

This field is a valuable green space used by many, adults and children. Removing access to it would be a great blow to locals, restrict green spaces which keep our children safe and a tall metal fence would be a complete eyesore. The cricket club have managed for decades without a fence, there is no need for one now!

My understanding is that this is a Council-owned public space - it shouldn’t be fenced off for the use of one particular group.
