Save Our Family Neighborhoods: Locate New Blinn Campus in Bryan

When Appomattox Drive is connected to the proposed Blinn campus, Appomattox Drive will experience a significant increase in automobile traffic through our single-family neighborhoods. Blinn traffic on Appomattox and the feeder will impact homeowners significantly. This plan will disrupt the secluded nature of our neighborhoods. The site is obviously too small for the expected expansion and growth of this higher education facility. Any city expenses associated with accommodating such a campus should not be born by the taxpayers, as it is clear that it is not a long-term solution for Blinn’s growth.

Blinn will have MORE room for expansion at the property in Bryan near Rudder H.S.

We bought in this neighborhood specifically to not be over run by college students. Our HOA does a great job with this but this change would make it inevitable that students would overwhelm the area.

Very bad idea to start Blinn campus here. Please consider expanding Bryan campus for students sake and for the innumerable problems with congested traffic, etc. that will bring to us.

It will be a traffic nightmare for us and not convenient for the students either.The city will pay more for law enforcement.Taxes will go up. Overall, a very bad idea.

It is cheaper,easier and a better fit for Blinn to expand the Blinn campus in Bryan as opposed to starting a new location in CS.

A Blinn campus at the Science Park will be extremely expensive and create a traffic nightmare for all of our neighborhoods. Even changing the feeder configuration won't change the impact that this campus will have on single family dwellings in the area. How can we consider spending more money on our feeder systems to accommodate the traffic hazard that this campus will create. Do not put the new campus in our neighborhoods.

not enough roads in/out of Emerald Forest/Raintree areas to accomodate a campus such as the proposed without major, extensive, disruptive, inefficient and dangerous traffic alternatives, such as the new Highway 6 exit ramp by Academy/Gander Mountain, where drivers come off at 75+ mph into narrow lanes and then try to get to Academy by crossing two traffic lanes in less than one tenth of a mile...

The Windwood Subdivision has already been impacted by Horse Haven (student housing) and the thru street connecting the bypass and Hwy 30. Appomattox is now a "raceway" 24/7. The speed limit is 30 MPH but the students that travel that street must not know how to read!! We are seriously thinking about moving because of the increased amount of traffic. I can't imagine what will happen if the Blinn Campus is moved to College Station.

How can the Blinn board justify to tax payers the turning down of free land in Bryan for a multi-million dollar piece of land in the middle of College Station family neighborhoods, which has restricted growth potential? Even though the Lynntech property has significant acreage, Blinn can't expand any further because of the churches and neighborhoods around the property. My Wife and I saved for 7 years to buy a home in Emerald Forest because we felt it would be a protected neighborhood from college students (whom I love, but don't want as neighbors) where our kids could play freely on the streets, neighbors would take care of their property and yards, and we could live in peace and quiet through our retirement. It is already congested in the morning when leaving the neighborhood at the intersection of 2818 and the bypass. I can't imagine what it would be like with thousands for students and faculty going to class. There is also talk of making adjustments to the feeder road with new entrances, etc. Again, how can the City of College Station and Blinn justify to tax payers that this is financially responsible when there is FREE LAND IN BRYAN!!!!

I completely oppose this campus being housed in the middle of family neighborhoods, especially in light of the fact that free property is being offered in Bryan. What a waste of taxpayers money.

I would expect Brazos County to pay close attention to whether this campus is approved. If so, the property taxes should be significantly lowered for all surrounding neighborhoods. With regards to the campus, we put so much financial and physical effort into our dream home, to think that it would be compromised by a college campus laid in between family neighborhoods is simply unacceptable.

We lived less than a block away from the Bryan Blinn Campus before we found our house in Emerald Forest. Our family had to tolerate student neighbors with evening parties, destruction of public property and poor lawn maintenance. I thought it couldn't happen here, but I've seen how extravagant some parents can be in providing an investment property for their children to manage while attending college.

We moved away from TAMU to avoid what will most likely develop with this plan. Will Blinn compensete my wife and me in any way for all of this? Probably not.

We really need to fight this. Poor location. Poor use of prime taxable property.
