Preamble
For over thirty plus years, international exchange students have had the opportunity to make a positive impact in the home, classroom and the community. Welcoming exchange students to our community and school has improved diversity awareness, instilled cultural values and has contributed to the overall upbringing of children in our county. By opening our homes and minds to the international community, we expose the youth of Clarke County to a global education only obtained by developing relationships with people from other countries and cultures. We live in a global society and economy and we must educate our young people into world citizens. There’s no better way to initiate global curiosity and a desire to learn about other countries and cultures than to welcome the benefits of the exchange student program. The exchange program promotes world peace and it’s the most effective tool in Public Diplomacy.

We, the undersigned value the experience that exchange programs such as CCI Greenheart offer to our community and the education of the youth. We ask that the program should not be diminished in any way so that future students may also be privileged to have the priceless experience of living and learning among international students.

As a beneficiary of this program, I can testify to its importance. It broadens the horizons of both the beneficiaries and the host communities. We need to save this program in Clarke County.
Ending this program will be such a disservice to students at CCHS and those abroad. I have treasured lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories because of this program!
The exchange program is a huge benefit to all the students - cultural awareness and exposure to those who are "different" is an essential part of growing up!
this is such a wonderful program. As an extended family member I see the positive effect is has on the kids both here and abroad and the life long friendships made.
My family has hosted many exchange students and each experience is different and special in its own way. My kids have a global awareness they would not get in a classroom and it has taught them acceptance and tolerance while learning about new cultures and countries. We need this program in our county and we need Tanya Barton as coordinator.

Contact your school board member (or all of them) and ask for their support to save the exchange program. It would be a HUGE loss to the American students and community to eliminate the program. Encourage them to vote in the agency at the Feb 23rd meeting.
