Leisure centres are maintained by tax-payers for the benefit of the General Public and as such should offer as many different sports as possible - INCLUDING SQUASH - and not be restricted to the most profitable.

The squash courts in Caldicot lesiure centre are well used by the villagers of magor, Caldicot , portskewett and surrounding areas . They are always fully booked and are the only squash courts remaining in the area. There are many cafes in the village of Caldicot that rely on continued support and children’s play areas that have closed down due to lack of support . Surely this is enough evidence to suggest that our villagers would benefit more from retaining our squash courts than converting them to yet another under used ‘failing business “.there are very few affordable fitness improving opportunities for young people in our area therefore I feel you are closing off an avenue that will be lost forever and missed by so many . Why ?

These squash courts are very well used and provide a vital leisure facility for local residents, helping them to improve health and well-being and stay connected with members of the local community. It would be a massive detriment to the local community culture if these squash courts were removed.

Absolutely ridiculous. The closure of these courts would mean the end of Caldicot Squash Club which has been serving the community for decades.

Leisure centres should encompass sporting activities, not soft play areas. Without proper consultation this is an unjustifiable decision. The courts should remain.

We need the squash courts in Caldicot and they should form part of any leisure centre re-development.

Squash is one of the healthiest sports on the planet. If we are serious about addressing the physical and mental health problems then know and use the evidence! Squash has huge impact in improving physical and mental fitness. Save the courts to help society.

Squash courts provide a community sport and inside courts during the winter. This club has players who need the facility and it isn’t like a table tennis or badminton facility where you can create the court in another facility- multi task a squash court yes but remove it, no.

Council need to seriously rethink this. Where was the consultation prior to this woeful decision being taken.

Squash courts in our Welsh Leisure Centres are a vital part in the selection of sports we offer our community. The health benefits of squash are well documented and massive, not to mention the social benefits. Please keep squash courts in Caldicot and allow all ages and standards to reap the rewards of this amazing game.

The NHS is currently spending 24 billion pounds per year on obesity related issues. We need to find ways to get more people to take part in sport. Removing sports facilities is going in the wrong direction.
