I'm sick to death of hearing week after week of another pub being sold off or under the threat of closure. How can we stop it?

Marstons/Banks's maintaining their tradition of making a fast buck whilst destroying the fabric of public houses in the area. Remember the Wheel at Codsall, The Shoulder of Mutton Tettenhall The Oak on Blackhalve lane Wednesfield and others now sites of housing developments.

It's about the service to local people not a quick buck.

I have used this pub for over 30 years and enjoy the fact that the food provided is pub grub of a very good standard. Its about time that the brewery invested in this pub and the community as for many years its willingly taken money from the community at least give the community a chance to voice its opinions and debate within real time of working people rather than operate what would seem under handed.

So much for the promises of a re-vamp eh. Spend some money on a much loved public place......

Too many pubs are being lost through closure and conversion to supermarkets and/or residential development sites. Marstons promised a refurbishment -what happened to that? Community pubs are really important. Save The Claregate.

Marstons should commit themselves to supporting the community rather than increasing their profits

Part of the Wolverhampton scene and a great example of a comfortable pre-war local.

Why are Marston's selling a pub that makes a profit?

Removing a community pub is unnecessary and will ultimately result in there being no community - just houses.

There are enough houses in the area, but the pub is still required for the community

Wouldn't it be nice to listen to the public for a change. Shame on you Marstons.

There is so much brownfield land in this area, removing a community pub is unnecessary.

Plenty of other sites, pub is popular. Why not demolish other businesses and build on those sites instead of targeting pubs, or better still build where there is no business and save all jobs !!!

I live in Bilbrook south staffordshire not far from this pub in Claregate and have used the pub over many years. It is a crying shame to see a lovely big house used as a popular pub to be demolished for a sake of new houses. Often when driving past I see many families outside enjoying a drink and a chat of which not many pleasures in life are left these days. Please think again and save the many last pubs that we have in this beautiful part of Wolverhampton.

Why do contractors have to build on every none available piece of land. This project is not required. Think of the people who rely on their jobs at the Claregate more important than unwanted houses, especially as it was promised that the pub would be refurbed when Tesco chose to build in the car park !! As usual a u turn to suit investors, and no thought for the community at large.

This pub is an important part of the community in Claregate. It's time for Marston's to stop selling off our Wolverhampton pub heritage - invest in The Claregate instead of knocking it down.
