I used this pub from being 'The Fieldhouse', through 'The Claregate'. It is part of Claregate's living history.

It would be such a shame for this pub to be demolished and turned into houses - it serves a wide community and is a place where people gather socially to drink and eat (and there are few places like this around these days).

This is a fantastic pub with so much potential to improve on the resources it offers the local community. With a bit of creative thinking and investment I am sure it will return to the thriving hub it once was.

This whole scheme is an absolute outrage. To pacify residents and customers when the Tesco was built, Marston's said that The Claregate would finally be refurbished. It seems to me that they have deliberately let the pub become run down in order to drive customers away and give them an 'excuse' , although this hasn't entirely worked! The Claregate is central to the local community and too many pubs have been lost in the area already.
Marston's should revert to the original plan and remodel the place, or hang their heads in shame! As a local resident and regular at the pub, I am utterly disgusted.

Save this pub all it comes down to at the end of the day is money, and more money they can't get enough

The Claregate is part of the neighbourhood. The housing will bring more traffic to the detriment of the locality. One thing we don't want is more cars on the Codsall Rd.

Come on, Marstons. Think about the loss to the community that these plans represent.

Another good pub sold for property development what are Marstons doing. It would be a great loss to the local community not to mention the job losses that it supports locally. What happened to the promises of reinvestment made when they developed the tescos on the sight?

it doesn't need knocking down it needs refurbing we are loosing too many of our pubs. We are going to become a concrete jungle of estates merging into one another

so short sighted, Investment in the pub to make it more appealing would mean more people would use it!
