The Claregate is part of the local community and should be saved. The care home building looks too imposing for the site.

I think we have far too many care homes in the area already and too few pubs. The Claregate is an attractive building and a popular pub which should be refurbished and maintained for future generations to enjoy.

Shame on Marstons for covering-up their true intentions for the Claregate (after TESCO). Loads of memories over many years here.
Lets hope the community prevails and Marstons see sense!

When the land was sold for Tesco Marstons promised money would be spent on improving the Claregate. This would have made an already popular local pub even more popular.

I have been using the Claregate for the last 30 years and strongly oppose its demolition to replace it with a care home. This can be of no benefit to our community, the Claregate MUST stay!

Keep up the pressure on Marston's - they should show a better attitude to the local community that has supported them all these years, and modernise the pub as they said they would

My local and I'm 100% behind you. Typical corporate beast behaviour in the culture of today where very sadly greed supersedes all.

Never been to this pub, but I'm sure I'd love it, and if a friend asks me to sign something like this, I'm all for it.

Closing this pub would be a huge blow for the residents in the local area. It needs investment, not demolition.

Spend the revenue from the Tesco that you have made on the refurbishment of the claregate as promised. Keep the historic building part of the community & give it the face lift it deserves

No way should we have a care home on this site. The park is a valuable asset to the area and children use the road all the time to access this. Extra traffic will put the children at real risk. At the moment the pub is doing well and just needs a facelift.
Yet another care home in the area is the last thing we need. The pub gives Claregate a traditional feel and looks great despite needing some work, no doubt Martstons know this but have neglected it due to ulterior motives. SAD!!!
What price do they want for it.
