Save our Children’s Mercy PICU Physicians

I have four children, ages 9, 8, 7, & 6 and would never send my children to a hospital operated in this manner.

Wow, getting rid of your experienced PICU physicians . Smart move .

Quality care comes first - every effort should be made to save this experienced and loyal group... replacing with new grads (or possibly mid-levels) is a great disservice to your patients. It will not go unnoticed.

Shameful that money is yet again put in front of quality care

Please allow patients to have access to PHYSICIANS. Replacing adequately trained medical physicians with mid-level providers is not fair to your patients.

This is an injustice. These people kept working during the pandemic and put their lives on the lines in doing so and now they are being replaced by new grads to save money. Shameful!

Our children need physicians. Mid level NPs and PAs are great as part of the team but they need real doctors as close supervisors. Otherwise children die.

Since PPP had virtual press conference that went viral, I have seen so many people speak out like never before...not just physicians. Nurses, NPs, PAs, advocacy groups, physicians and patients talk openly about scope of practice creep issues and how it is going impact all of us because WE ARE ALL patients. It's now or never. Speak out and make this issue KNOWN to everyone. Patients are being short changed in a cost cutting effort that it penny wise-pound foolish.

This type of decision is appalling and unconscionable. Heroes who lay their lives on the line to safe children’s lives should not be treated thusly, especially in a time of crisis. This is toxic employee ethics.

The purported cost savings Children’s Mercy is seeking will be offset by higher infant mortality (and legal jeopardy) caused by relying on NPs to make physician level decisions.

Replacing experienced physicians will be detrimental to the health of these patients. These decisions are usually based on financial benefits for hospital administrators and not patientes

Disgusting to treat your docs like that

CMH needs to keep their intensivits and anesthesiologists. They are vital to the success of that institution! Signed, a local ER physician and parent to a son treated by this PICU team!

To the administrators who thought this was a good idea, pray that your children never become ill.

The patients deserve better than this. The physicians deserve better than this. Do better.

The system should be embarrassed it values profit over quality physician care. What ever happened to rewarding loyalty and excellence.

Trading quality physicians to save money is immoral.

Patient care should be above profit. Replacing doctors with nurses with algorithms is bad patient care. NPs and new graduates cannot replace the years of collective experience and knowledge you are getting rid of.

Shame on them. Will be one more group to never work for. $ over patients lives. Shame on you for using a pandemic as a negotiation tool.
