I have worked closely with these physicians while in training at Truman Medical Center as an Emergency Medicine resident and am forever grateful for the wisdom and education they provided me- it has shaped my practice and given me the training needed to take care of critical ill children. But what I could not be more thankful for is the care and love they provided my infant daughter this past January when she was admitted to the PICU with acute respiratory failure from severe bronchiolitis. These physicians are crucial to providing excellent care at CMH and this decision to terminate their contracts should not only be reconsidered but revoked.

As a Pediatric Cardiologist, I worked closely with the PICU Intensivists and Anesthesiologists for 26 years before my retirement. They are an incredibly dedicated, conscientious, and knowledgeable group. I would trust them with my son’s life. Ending the contract with them is unjust and will result in a significant decrease in the quality of care provided by CMH.

My Niece Bliss Allmoslecher has been Beautifully cared for her whole Life (18 years) by the PICU staff at Children’s Mercy.

This group of intensivists are brilliant and dedicated to their patients and education. As a recent graduate of CMH, I can attest to relentless efforts of this group to better the unit and residents who come through it. It would be a huge disservice to CMH and the communities in which we serve to dismantle this group.

They too saved my daughter's life when she had an unknown illness that made her vitals and labs hit rock bottom, and my son's, when he had his brain tumor removed. This team is not only compassionate, they are VITAL.

One story out of all the stories that happen daily. I’m proud to work with these PICU and anesthesia teams daily. Experience is a doctor’s most valuable asset, and hence the most valuable asset to patients and institutions.

My daughter spent over 9 months of her life in the PICU. Without this wonderful team we would have not had as much time with her. They are selfless and care for their kiddos. The PICU needs these experienced doctors and anesthesiologists to continue with the challenging cases the PICU faces.

The team at Children’s Mercy have become so in tuned to each other and their patients need that they know what the others are thinking before ever saying their thoughts out loud. This kind of team work has saved and will continue to save lives. Thanks to Brie, Dr Miller and the news, I've seenever some amazing things that can only be described as miracles from this team at Children's Mercy. Please keep them together so they can continue to preform miracles that are saving the lives of children

It would be a devastating decision to proceed in the manner than Children’s Mercy is proposing. Please consider the life saving and extensive real world experience AAKC providers have vs the “new hire/lean” approach being taken. This major children’s hospital is such a phenomenal asset to the Kansas City community and surrounding areas. To eliminate a group that’s been vital in building the hospital’s reputation will most certainly have detrimental impacts for years to come. Please stop and think before allowing a couple of pencil pushers’ agendas to cause real harm to real people. Current and future patients are going to be the real victims here. I know I would strongly consider using other regional children’s hospitals (i.e. Barnes Jewish in St Louis) for my own children, if their lives were being handled by anyone but the best.
