I also have worked side by side with this Pediatric Intensivists and Anesthesiologists for several years. I have not worked with a more highly skilled group of physicians. This would be a extremely harmful decision to Children’s Mercy Hospital and the community to remove this dedicated and experienced group of physicians. Please sign this petition.

My husband is employed by AAKC at Children's Mercy and has only amazing things to say about the people he works with. It's so sad that these wonderful providers are becoming collateral damage in a business transaction.

I worked at CMH For 18 years. Many years of close work with the AAKC anesthesiologists as well as spending time with PICU staff through my position. These physicians are top notch! The collaboration, teamwork and level of expertise I have witnessed is second to none. It saddens me to hear this decision and it will most definitely be reflected in the level of care provided in their absence.

I am an Anesthesiologist at KUMC and have an excellent relationship with my colleagues from the AAKC group. They have fostered relationships with many of my colleagues at KUMC both professionally and personally, which has ultimately affected patient and clinician lives in a positive manner. The abrupt ending of a 40-year relationship between the hospital and this group shows poor leadership and concern not for patient care, but rather for the bottom line and saving an extra buck or two. It is immensely sad that excellent patient care will be compromised and thrown aside. I'm sure the CEO and executive leadership won't be taking a pay cut, while the Anesthesiologists affected by this contract cancellation will take a significant pay cut or face years of a non-compete clause. This has all the makings for an 80s evil corporate mogul movie, or at least a good human interest news story. I certainly hope Children's Mercy will do the right thing by their patients and these Anesthesiologists who work hard for them.

They are such an important asset to our region

All of these providers are vital to the continued competence and compassion that CMH prides itself on, not to mention staff cohesion. It would be a devastating loss to everyone (families who have come to rely on and trust these doctors, staff who work seamlessly together, and the institution, whose reputation could be seriously negatively impacted). Every effort should be made to keep all of these providers!

These physicians are integral in the safe care of patients. Without them, the entire mission of the hospital is challenged and patient safety is at risk. Ultimately the goal of every healthcare provider is to do no harm and by removing this team of healthcare providers you are violating this basic tenet.

I am writing with the goal that Children’s Mercy Hospital recognizes the value of their AAKC PICU Intensivists and Anesthesiologist and reconsiders the decision to end Children Mercy’s 40 year relationship with this phenomenal team. My cousin Zei spent 4,556 hours on VV ECMO. This PICU team was her lifeline. I read my cousin Brie’s stories of the countless times these Intensivists and Anesthesiologists supported Zei through those 190 days of ECMO life support,
