My son Alex was on ecmo 8/4/91 to 8/10/91. We just celebrated his 29th birthday. He is healthy and no one ever believes he had under a 2% chance of survival. HE WOULD NOT BE HERE WITHOUT THE LOVING DOCTORS AND NURSES AT CMH!

A beautifully written petition. The people on this professional team work miracles and provide hope to so many. Please do not destroy this precious community asset.

As retired CRNA from AAKC, and the husband of one your your finest registered nurses, I know the quality and professionalism of all AAKC staff. You’ll be hard pressed to find any that are better. It would be a shame to see you throw away 40 years of a relationship that has built the ICUs to what they are today. Management didn’t do it....AAKC and their innovation did it.

Children’s Mercy PICU has saved several children in my extended family. I can’t imagine not having the team of experts available.

As a grandparent I want to know that Kansas City has a children’s hospital that is the best in the region - and doesn’t sacrifice experienced pediatric care for cost saving measures. Please keep the medical team that parents can trust with their previous little ones.

Children’s Mercy is the one place families can bring their children and know they will get the best care possible. Part of that care has been AAKC. Please reconsider your decision.

This is sad. My daughter recently experienced a MRI and had to go under. I would of never of trusted the situation until the anesthesiologists came out and explained the procedure. He made the comment “I’ll treat her as if she was my own daughter.”

Children’s Mercy doctors saved my infant sons life in 1996. Now he is a software engineer for Apple Inc. Dr. Jenna Miller took care of him when she was still a fellow at Texas Childrens in Houston. She’s a world class children’s doctor.

First, I appreciate and second the comments of Ann M Kelly, RN BSN!! And second, there is another administrator who needs to be named in this decision and it is Rob Steele, MD, MBA - Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer. He is the one who has been charged to defend this decision and is to be held accountable as well.

Firing a team of experienced physicians who have dedicated their careers to caring for the sickest children - in order to save money is cruel and wrong
