Undeniably essential in our remotest regions. Local knowledge and local understanding=a quality service to the local public. Yes money is tight but when we are often dealing with potential life and death situations up here in the Highlands and Islands there needs to be some common sense used.

How are call centre staff in Dundee or Glasgow supposed to direct officers to incidents when they can't even pronounce the place names on Skye or in highlands

this is an essential service where people depend on being able to speak to someone when they have a problem and best if someone knows area where you live and the geography of the area

How in the name would a control office in Dundee know the Distances in the Highland Area that covers hundreds of miles and has more single track roads than anywhere else in the whole of the U.K.
