I am a firm believer that the loss of local knowledge currently held by our staff in our call centres cannot be replaced by technology. This has already been evident on the occasions I have had to contact Police Scotland.

I think it essential that local control is retained. The people know the area that the calls refer to and can deal with them quickly and efficiently and not make serious errors that we have seen taking place in these enlarged call centres.

I fully support the proposal to keep local police call centres. Local knowledge is invaluable for efficiency and could save lives.

Local centres understand the locality and its issues. Seconds can be vital in 999 situations.

Should be kept local for local knowledge and speed of response

Centralising call handling will lose local knowledge and increase response times when time is often critical in an incident.

The continuing saga of the North East loosing all its infrastructure as far as the Police and its subsidiaries are concerned.

Centralisation in this context just undermines local confidence and puts lives in danger. 'One size fits all' doesn't work in Scotland.

It is essential that Police Scotland review the situation. It is important that local knowledge is retained.

Centralising call handling is so short sighted. This is one mans madness when he is surrounded by yes men.

As a former Police Officer i feel It is disgraceful to firstly cut back in the number of officers actually on the beat but to try and pinpoint incident areas far away from control centres will only add to this. Local knowledge can mean the difference between Life and Death!!

It is extremely important that there is local knowledge by the person receiving calls from the public on matters which may be the difference between life and death.
