I am a firm believer that the loss of local knowledge currently held by our staff in our call centres cannot be replaced by technology. This has already been evident on the occasions I have had to contact Police Scotland.

I think it essential that local control is retained. The people know the area that the calls refer to and can deal with them quickly and efficiently and not make serious errors that we have seen taking place in these enlarged call centres.

As a former Police Officer i feel It is disgraceful to firstly cut back in the number of officers actually on the beat but to try and pinpoint incident areas far away from control centres will only add to this.
Local knowledge can mean the difference between Life and Death!!
