1 year ago, Kenny McAskill said they were an invaluable service to the people of the north east. 1 year later, they are now not invaluable?. The closures are quite simply, the most ludicrous thing Police Scotland have done so far.

My comment is attributed to my name from Airdrie. Another reason we should abandon this ludicrous idea. I am in Mintlaw. Heaven help me if I need the police and they send someone to Airdrie over 100 miles away!!!!! See above under William J Cowie

Call-handling must be kept local. Local knowledge is invaluable. Far too much emphasis on Central Belt by Scottish Government

Every thing is being centralised now a-days. I sometimes wonder the folk in government and other organisations are aware that there is life above the Central Belt. How many more lives must be put at risk before they get some sense?

What will happen if they get a call to go to Foggieloan. Wouldn`t have a clue where it is.

I've worked for Directory Enquiries and not being local caused enough problems there-it is essential in an emergency situation these centres are local.

I am against centralisation of emergency services as it is purely cost -cutting and not based on the needs of people affected.

Local knowledge is particularly important in rural communities where so many roads are unclassified

How can people in the Central Belt deal with calls from the North East of Scotland when they don't know the area.I was a controller at Inverurie Police Station in the 90s but when I moved up to Portsoy on the Moray Coast I didn't apply for a job as a Police controller here as I didn't know the area at all whereas when I wss in Inverurie I knew the area like the back of my hand and understood the local dialect. Save Aberdeen Control Room!

Replacing local call centres with numbteeeeeeees should not have been given airplay in the Boardroom in the first place.

I used to do this job.............local knowledge should be a pre-requisite...........in emergency situations when speed is paramount it could make the difference between life & death
