I worked as a Police Control Room Assistant for several years. As such, I know it is absolutely essential that this service is provided by a local control room. This is not only for the safety of the general public but also for the safety of serving police officers. Local call handlers know their police officers and care about their well being and safety. That should not be jeopardised by calls being taken and units dispatched by faceless call handlers in massive centralised call centres.

Distant call centres always dilute any service provided. To do this for police services where local knowledge is required would be criminal!

closing our call centres will isolate us from central belt, and lose all our local knowledge of areas covered by present centres.

Police call centres are the gateway to keeping our communities safe. When you need the police to come to your aid, you want the people sending them to know the place and area you're talking about.

It makes sense to keep them open. In Highland there are 10,000 square miles to cover and many duplicate place names. There is no substitute for local knowledge. Let's not open ourselves to future serious blunderz

Absurd that this should need a petition at all. When will someone in the Scottish Government show some common sense.
