My wife and I live in Banffshire. In an emergency we need to speak to someone with local knowledge. Many local people of our age group (we are both 74) also need someone who understands the Doric. It's bad enough having to speak to someone in Aberdeen or Inverness - both over 50 miles away. Trying to explain an emergency situation to someone in the south of Scotland could well cost someone's life.

This is just another step by politicians to obtain political control of the police. It is easier to control 1 force rather than several.

Having worked at the Force Control Room in Aberdeen and outlying areas, local knowledge is paramount for Officers responding to incidents in a timeous fashion.
Closure would cause unnecessary delays.

Keep the knowledge and jobs local! So much for national resilliance if everything is in the central belt!

This highly rural area depends on local knowledge to get the emergency services where they need to be accurately and speedily.

This is centralisation gone mad!
It will take LONGER for a staff member in central belt to answer a call from the north due to accent issues and local knowledge. So where is the sense or financial saving in the proposal?

A ridiculous idea, people are going to die. There is more to Scotland than just the central belt.
