Central belt office staff will fully understand a N.E. local speaking broad Doric. Aye, right! Scottish government behind-the-scene centralisation at any cost. Projected savings never materialise, either.

It only makes sense that local calls are made locally. How is someone in a different town going to know the area and how long it's going the police to get there. Common sense has flown out the window!!

The central belt already thinks there's nothing above Inverness, so we're in big trouble it's a disgrace.

Believe that this facility is vital to the community at large. To provide the much needed reassurance and peace of mind for everyone in this controlled area.
This simply defies belief, that money, politicians and accountants, can control the safety and well being of all people.
Is the needle becoming adrift of the moral compass !

Rural communities must have confidence that emergency services will be able to locate them - local call centres provide this confidence.

We really need to retain the call centres in Aberdeen and Inverness where our rural areas are known to people living in these areas.

Live out in the sticks and hard enough for someone who knows where we are to find us never mind someone who hasnt even heard of our area.. This will put our lives at risk and our insurance up.

I have had first hand experience talking to a call handler in Glasgow who didn't have a clue where I was or what was the nearest police station to me. I think it's a disgrace that jobs will also be taken from highland and centralised

Is this yet another SNP ploy to isolate everything in Scotland outside the Central belt? How can any reasonable person think that every call centre worker has a totally encyclopedic knowledge of All of Scotland.

The delays incurred dialling from Talmine in Sutherland , through to Glasgow, (ever heard of Talmine?) diverted to Dundee, only to have to repeat yourself and be asked for a post code when you are in a state of high stress, will result in death, injury or at best a late response time. With no local knowledge, call centres down south will be complicit in the Criminals getting away with plenty of time to disappear, and victims left to cope alone by the time the police get there if at all. How can the government say that the service is fair and equal. Again rurality matters not a jot. Inverness grows, and police services are shrinking.

As a retired senior officer I see local policing services deteriorating dramatically particularly in non urban areas. Lack of local knowledge in call handling causes inefficiency and provides a far poorer response.
